Alyssa Esquivel

The Expat Mom, Offshore Club

Growing up with a mother who worked in international trade Alyssa’s curiosity and passion for other cultures began at a young age. This lead her around the globe to Australia, Brazil, China, France, India, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa, Thailand, Tanzania, Venezuela and Vietnam all before graduating from university. After she graduated university in California, she worked for four years with a local non-profit supporting expat who were living around the world offshore, only further inspiring her own move.

In 2010 she made the leap with a 9-month school, starting in Belize for 3 months. During her time there she fell in love with the community and people on the island of Ambergris Caye, eventually leading her to permanent move there. She worked for eight years with a college training school on the island facilitating 100’s of college students temporary and permanent moves offshore to pursue their passions. During this time, she met and married her husband, a local “San Pedrano”, and had four beautifully adventurous children.

In 2020 she made the move to join ECI Development as the quality assurance and client relations coordinator and loves to support others looking to join the expat lifestyle. In addition, she serves in her local community offering women’s and couples counseling with her husband, is a little free library mom, an amateur photographer, passionate baker and lover of all things ocean.

“Truly the most beautiful collision exists when you can combine your location on this planet with the things that bring you the most joy. To find that place that you not only call home but fills you in your soul with the warmth of home, a place that you feel free and alive, a place that awakens your deepest desires for fulfillment and rest.”
